Paul Shelton, COL(R)



Colonel (Retired) Paul Shelton served as The Colonel Zadok Magruder High School Army JROTC program’s Senior Army Instructor (SAI) from December 2015 to January 2018.

Prior to his coming to Magruder, Colonel Shelton served in a variety of command and staff positions on the Defense and Army Staff in the pentagon as well as Army and Air Force bases in the United States, the middle east and the Republic of Korea.  He is a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Colonel Shelton’s education includes a master’s degree in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin’s Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs and an International Security Studies Fellowship at Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.  He is a graduate of the Army War College, the Air War College, Command and General Staff College and the US Army School of Cadet Command.

Colonel Shelton’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit medal with oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutist Badge and Pathfinder Torch.  He and his wife Meleah have been married for 28 years and they have one daughter.


The Business Partnerships and Community Outreach Committee has the responsibility to establish and maintain open lines of communication between the organization and local business establishments and other community organizations and interests, and to obtain their assistance with booster club or JROTC program activities.
